Interview with prof. Fabiana Monti Audero
Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher motivated you to learn it?
I speak Spanish because I am Argentinian. I love my language and I am a communicator. I graduated from the University of Rosario in Argentina and later became a Spanish teacher for foreigners during my ten years living in Brazil. Yes, there is always an inspiring teacher, several, and I try to learn from their teachings and pass them on.
Name a person (present-day, historical or fictional) who, in your opinion, best represents the culture of the language you teach.
There are several, I like Silvana wordpress web design agency Mendoza, Uruguayan, coordinator of CNA Languages São Paulo, for her style and professionalism; Magdalena Aliau, a retired teacher, but passionate about mythology and literature. Well, the list is much longer, in addition to writers and others passionate about the language.
Is there a typical word, expression or tradition that you particularly like?
It is also difficult, there are many, because language is expression, communication. I will quote one: "You don't wake up early because you get up early". Things, learning takes time. That's what I usually say. And then I use the language of fashions to learn and to encourage, like "let's go" to encourage. And that will become my trademark, soon.
Why is learning this language important (whether for school, work or personal purposes)?
Simply because it opens doors, of work, of affection, of knowledge to the world and new and diverse ways of thinking.
What is the biggest difficulty in learning this language and how can you get around this obstacle?
The biggest difficulty is time, wanting to learn overnight, especially with the difficulties of adult life. You can overcome this with patience, not giving up, flexibility about everything and encouragement. Make them enjoy what they do.
Could you share any funny stories and/or curiosities related to your profession or private lessons?
Many, in general my classes are prepared, but flexible. The fact of having a student's father passing behind the camera, coming out of the shower, with his daughter terrified thinking he was naked soon: or meeting children, grandparents, dogs, who are part of the classes and online life.
Help us get to know you better, tell us a little about your travels, native friends in the language you teach, among others!
My travels. I had the experience of having family all over the world, so it was from Holland to France or traveling with friends to Machu Picchu, Bolivia, Chile. Of course, my country, much of which I was able to travel to or with my boyfriend in Brazil. Especially on the north coast, where, for example, I was moved by a 15-year-old girl who takes an hour a week to study Spanish because she loves it and almost lives in the "forest".
